Elementary School Counselor Email Phone: 715-265-7869 Hello! My name is Paula Gretzlock. I am the School Counselor at Glenwood City Elementary School. This is my 5th year at GCE. Previous to working here, I was a High School Counselor in New Richmond. Overall, I have worked in education and human service systems for over 25 years. My position is part-time so I am not in the building all day, every day. I am typically available Monday-Friday into the early afternoon. Please contact me at any time by phone (715-265-7869) or email (paula.gretzlock@gcsd.k12.wi.us) and I will respond as soon as possible. Providing a strengths-based comprehensive School Counseling Program with a focus on social emotional learning is my greatest priority at GCE. This is vital to the healthy development of all children and does positively impact their academic achievement. Please see specific information on comprehensive programming through the link on the left side of this page. I look forward to working with all students and families during their time at GCE. I hope to support their growth academically, personally and socially. Please let me know how I can work with, and support, your student and family! CLICK HERE TO ACCESS MRS G's ONLINE CHECK-IN FORM

April 15 Message from Mrs G
Happy WINTER everyone?! I've got to say, it seems like a little bit of a sick joke to have this kind of weather while we're all stuck 'safer at home'...:-) Between this weather and getting to see the new Trolls movie this weekend, it seems like a great time to revisit our Growth Mindset learning for a refresher during all this! Please take a few minutes to remember yourself (or parents, ask your kiddos!) how important it is to stay positive, BELIEVE in yourself, PERSEVERE and keep being a GOOD LEARNER - all the parts of keeping that strong Growth Mindset. We all know there are times when its hard to fight off a fixed mindset, but right now is a GREAT time to focus on your Growth Mindset to help you keep moving ahead. If you need a little boost, let Poppy help you out.....https://youtu.be/HB21wVlPqz4. Take some pics or videos of you all dancing and singing up your Growth Mindset and send them to me! Also click on the Growth Mindset tab to the left for more info on it!

April 8 Message from Mrs G
Hi everybody! Week 4 and we're still going GC STRONG, aren't we?! Keep working hard and hanging in there! Not sure about you, but I have my moments of feeling like this is kinda tough. Some things that have helped me out is getting to hear from my students and families so keep reaching out for us to connect. Yesterday morning I also had a little ray of sunshine that helped me out too....anybody ever hear of the singer Jewel? Well, she's a pretty cool singer AND also believes a whole lot in Mindfulness! I caught her on a talk show and she sang her new song 'Grateful' (which she called a GRATITUNE :-) and also talked about using Mindfulness to make the best of our situation right now - right up my alley you know! Check out this link (https://kellyandryan.com/guide/april-7-2020/) to see it yourself, I've also linked the lyrics to the title of this message as well so you can read them. You know I love to share music with you and I hope you like this one as much as I do - its a super reminder that we ALL need to work hard to be the boss of our feelings in this and choose GRATITUDE! April 1 Message from Mrs G
Hello everyone! Happy April Fool's Day....maybe this year is an extra good one to find a silly way to get an extra laugh out of someone else?! Some paper bugs inside of lampshades, upside down glasses of water that need to be dealt with, some plastic wrap on a faucet....
As we move through Week 3 of being home, I hope that you are finding, and creating, opportunities whenever you can to to laugh and smile. There's more than plenty of worry and stress right now for everyone so its important to make the 'good stuff' happen as much as possible. It can be hard to stay on the positive side of things, but it WILL make a positive difference in your house. Hang in there through the tough moments, consider the idea of 'fake it til you make it' and when all that seems nearly impossible then go with either giving or asking for a hug.
I am available to connect with kids and families - give a call or email!
