Email Technology Education
Every student is capable of learning, however most students have higher success with a "hands-on" approach. I believe that by allowing students to physically interact with their learning environment, they will have a better understanding of the lesson and will be able to retain more of what they learned. Like the Chinese Proverb.... "tell me - I forget" .... "show me - I remember" .... "involve me - I understand." I also like the following quote:
"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten."
- B.F. Skinner
Today's students are interactive learners living in a technological world, and they benefit greatly from working in a hands-on, technology rich environment. Tech. Ed. courses are designed to increase technology skills, improve creative problem solving and give students a jump start into college engineering programs. These same courses help students build the foundation needed to enter the building trades, and also provide the basic "life skills" which will help them no-matter what career they may choose. The goal is to have students become "technology savvy," productive members of the workforce that are adaptive, life long learners. Tech. Ed. students (male & female) work in a non-threatening, bully-free environment with a teacher that cares about each student's individual needs.
Whether it be a Tech. Comm. computer class or a more traditional woods/metals processes class... quality work, good craftsmanship and attention to detail is strongly encouraged. Students get a "feel good" attitude about school when they have success with their projects. Motivation is kept high as they enjoy using their creativity and taking pride in their work.
