The Glenwood City eCampus is a school within our school district. GCEC students are students enrolled in the Glenwood City School District (GCSD). This program is coordinated through Glenwood City School District staff but may not be taught by Glenwood City School District staff. Instruction is provided by a variety of virtual education options. GCEC students will be assigned to our eCampus teacher/coordinator within the Glenwood City School District as a point of contact for communication purposes. The majority of instruction may occur virtually, with the exception of teacher/coordinator contact time. Each student is considered for admission based on his or her qualities and learning needs as unique individuals.

The GCEC is coordinated through Glenwood City School District staff but instruction is provided by a variety of virtual education options. We have found in the GCEC that the most successful students are the ones who have their parents or guardians highly involved in their education. Just as in all aspects of a child’s life, they will need encouragement, guidance, and accountability from their parents. You will find that more of a time commitment for parents is required in virtual schooling rather than in traditional schooling. The GCEC teacher/coordinator will utilize videoconferencing, phone, and email to communicate with students. The teacher/coordinator wants to meet students where they are at and help them to be successful.

GCEC students are allowed to participate in electives and extracurricular activities with administrator approval. Students are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities and athletics at the Glenwood City School District. The same guidelines that apply for traditional GCSD students apply for eCampus students. If interested the student must contact the office/athletic director to get all the necessary information. All clubs and activities at Glenwood City School District are open to eCampus students.

In today's world of technology and computers, I am proud to spearhead a new program for Glenwood City School District that would allow students to stay connected to their local school while virtually learning. The GCSD eCampus opportunity provides the ultimate flexibility for students and families. Whether students are completely online or hybrid, taking advantage of exceptional courses offered on-site and virtually, this program hopes to meet all individual needs. Being a part of the GCSD community offers the opportunity to be involved in sports, clubs, events, and much more. This is a great avenue for students to choose their own path while maintaining connection to the Glenwood City community.
This program is ideal for students who thrive in a self-driven setting but care will be taken to provide personalized help throughout their classes. While working as a long term substitute teacher in Glenwood City School District last year, I was very impressed with the school and students. I am so glad that I had the pleasure of getting to know this school and that is what inspired me to return to education. With 20 years in alternative education, I am excited to see how this blended curriculum will meet everyone's needs. I look forward to working with you all again this year!
Jill Wright, E-Campus Teacher/Coordinator
